Pronghorn Migration in Danger

Nature/Outdoors

Pronghorn Antelope

The Wyoming pronghorn antelope migration is the second longest migration of any mammal in North America. The migration path is between 125 and 150 miles long but only one mile wide. The pronghorn have been following this migratory path for over 6,000 years. With each passing year the antelope face ever more barriers to their migration in form of roads, fences, housig developments, and oil and gas facilities.

Conservationist and advenurer Rick Ridgeway and National Geographic photographer Joe Riis followed the pronghorn migration on foot to see first hand the barriers the animals encounter. Click here to watch the excellent video of their expedition.
