Cat With 2 Faces Marks 12 Years of Defying Odds

USA TODAY - Here's one instance when being two-faced isn't a bad thing, especially when it lands you in the Guinness records for defying death. Frank and Louie is one cool cat, born in Massachusetts 12 years ago with separate faces and given little chance of surviving beyond a few hours. He actually set the record for longest-living Janus cat -- named for the Roman god with two faces -- back in 2006, when he lived in Ohio, but he's back in the news.

A 10-year-old girl from Canada has discovered a supernova, making her the youngest person ever to find a stellar explosion. The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada announced the discovery by Kathryn Aurora Gray of Fredericton, New Brunswick, who was assisted by astronomers Paul Gray and David Lane. Cat Returns Home 5 Years After Katrina

Scrub the cat was only two years old when Hurricane Katrina hit. He had been an indoor cat but when the power went out after the hurricane and there was no air conditioning, his owner Jennifer Noble let him outside so that he could cool off. It wasn't long before he wandered off and got lost.

Luckily Scrub was microchipped so when he turned up at a South Mississippi Humane Shelter 5 years later and 15 miles away from home he was identified and returned to his home. Jennifer was quite skeptical when she first got the call from the Humane Society but realized it was him when she picked him up. Scrub, who is now 7 years old, had a small chunk missing from one of his ears and he had another deep scar but otherwise he was in good health. On his first night home, Scrub went immediately to his old favorite spot where he had always slept.

Girl Wakes From Coma Speaking New Language

A 13-year-old Croatian girl who fell into a coma woke up speaking fluent German. The girl, from the southern town of Knin, had only just started studying German at school and had been reading German books and watching German TV to become better, but was by no means fluent, according to her parents.

Since waking up from her 24 hour coma however, she has been unable to speak Croatian, but is able to communicate perfectly in German. Read more about it here

This is one of the most surprising and awesome tales ever told in the history of medicine. These twins are Tatiana and Krista Hogan. Their brains and sensory systems are networked together, but they have separate personalities. Their story defies belief.

So much, in fact, that Tatiana and Krista Hogan shouldn't be alive at all. Their chances of surviving the pregnancy, birth and first months of life were almost zero. Surprisingly, they turned four on October 25, and they are still healthy and happy, as you can see in the photo above.

They play Nintendo Wii games against each other, they fight for toys and they share food and physiological functions. But they also share their senses. For example, one can pick an object out of her field of view, while the twin looks at the object.
